Governing Body Key Information
School Governors form the largest volunteer group in the UK. There are around 300,000 people engaged in this role.
We have an active group of Governors at Mickleover Primary. Governors assist with strategic planning and provide oversight of the school’s activities. We ensure that the school provides the best possible environment for learning, has challenging targets and is held to account for delivering them and that it is compliant with any statutory requirements.
We meet every half term as a whole Governing Body. Governors also join one of two sub-committees that also meet each half term - one for finance and general issues and the other for curriculum or personnel matters. These sub-committees review and agree policies and make decisions. Agreed items are then submitted to the full Governing Body meeting for reporting or approval.
Our current areas of focus are improving writing results across the school, studying options for the provision of school meals and improving our levels of engagement with parents. Last year we were also heavily involved in supporting the school’s response to the local authority proposal to increase pupil admission numbers.
Our governors are listed below. Some governors have specific responsibility as a link governor, establishing contact with the lead staff member for a given subject and developing governor knowledge in this area.
