Every class in the school is involved in a number of educational visits each year. These visits
may only be a few hundred yards from school and carried out on foot, or alternatively they
may be many miles, travelling by coach. These visits are never designed to be just “a day out”
and are always risk assessed before the day of the visit. A great deal of thought and effort goes
into the preparation and follow up work for these visits, which are normally arranged to
supplement the work already being undertaken in the classroom.
From time to time we are able to bring into school people from the local community to:
•
talk about their work, e.g. fireman, policeman etc;
•
talk about an event in the community;
•
talk about road safety;
•
perform a play;
•
perform pieces of music.
